No Sound for Leopard

Unfortunately the QCPlugins do not work with Leopard. I am working (slowly) to find a solution. When I do I'll note it here.

Introducing the Dradis for the Mac

I love the new Sci-Fi series Battlestar Galactica. I loved the old one from the 1970's as well. One of the elements used on the show is a radar like computer called a Dradis. There are a couple of websites that describe a Dradis in more detail: wiki page and the Battlestar Wiki.

Jim Stevenson from Star Ship Schematics created a screensaver for windows machines using flash (one with sound and one without). I enjoyed that and thought it would be great to have a verson for the Mac. I used Jim's basic console graphic and then used Apple's Quartz Composer to create a quartz composition that simulates the 3D version of the Dradis. If you have a G4 mac or better running Tiger you can download it and make it a screensaver.

The screen saver also supports audio but not natively. To enable the audio you must download and install the quartz composer plugin from qcplugins. *Note: for Leopard users the QCPlugins does not work so there is NO audio (I'm trying to find another solution)

This is a continuing project and I will update it periodically. Subscribe to this RSS to know when updates occur. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for improvement please email me.
